Volunteering

There will be a volunteer fee this year. Milton Youth Basketball cannot work without the help of volunteers.  We will be hosting games for our league play.  We will be asking teams and parents for help to aid us in the selling of concessions, collecting admission at the door and other tasks as needed.  We ask that parents consider volunteering as much as possible to help us put on a quality program.  Should you choose not to volunteer, please select the opt-out option for a $100 fee per child within the registration.

League Play

4K-2nd Grade will be playing in our in-house league those practices/game play will be on Saturday morning/early afternoons.  We will try to get Grade 1-2 players one practice per week depending upon gym availability.

All teams in 3rd-8th grade will be playing in the Badger Development League.   League play in the Badger moves to different schools around the region each weekend (Nov.-Feb).   Typically, Badger league play includes 2-3 games all on one day for the weekend.

3rd - 8th-grade teams may also be playing in tournaments throughout the season and typically have several practices after school or early evening each week.  7th and 8th grade teams may have the opportunity to play a few extra tournaments.

Team Selection

4K-2nd Grade- Teams will be formed through a random selection process.

3rd - 8th Grade- All players will go through a skills assessment which will facilitate team selections.  The Badger League has leagues based on skill level for each grade.   Your player will be placed based on talent, composition of team, and player potential.  The goal of the MYB is to facilitate 100% participation for all players who wish to play and every effort will be made to place them on a team that fits their ability.

Assessments

This season we will hold a two-day mandatory skills assessment for grades 3-8 these assessments will be held on Sunday, September 10 and Sunday, September 17.  We are asking all players to attend both days of the assessment process.  Assessments will be used to form teams.  All assessments will be held at Milton High School.  More information will be sent to all registered participants via e-mail so you know when your grade will be assessing.  Grades 4K-2 will not have an assessment and will be randomly placed.

Coaches:

Milton Youth Basketball is looking for volunteer coaches for the 2023-2024 season.   If you are over 18, are good with kids and have a knowledge of basketball fundamentals please consider volunteering your time this season to be a head or assistant coach.

Coaches are needed from 4K to 8th grade.  4K to K In House programs typically involve a Saturday only commitment.  1st-2nd Grade In House programs typically practice 1 night per week and have a game on Saturday.  3rd to 8th grade teams typically practice 2 nights per week and have games on Saturday or Sundays.  If you're new to coaching MYB can provide a mentor to help you learn how to run practices and coach games.  Coaching can be a rewarding and fun experience and our program depends on volunteers to make it run.  Please consider helping coach a team this year.

If you're interested in volunteering to coach a team this year please complete this form:  https://forms.gle/asfq9TzGJLVdZAtK9 (Past coaches please complete the form as well, if you are interested in coaching).
